Last week, the Colton Woman’s Club held their monthly meeting which was attended by 75 members at the clubhouse located at 475 N 7th Street. The monthly event typically follows standard meeting protocols, but often include celebrations, announcements, and special guests. From time to time there is also a special presentation marking an important event, an individual accomplishment or a milestone as to the success of the Woman’s Club.

On this occasion, Dr.G took the floor to make a special presentation to the Colton Woman’s Club on behalf of “CITYTALK w/DrG” in recognition of 125 years of service to the city of Colton and for their positive contribution to the community. This recognition award is called the “Community Impact Award” which is given to groups and/or individuals in the community who have engaged effectively in the community and have made a positive impact.

“The 125th Anniversary Celebration last year was a testament to our commitment to the community,” exclaimed President Delma Ledesma. Keeping this in mind, it is noted that the Colton Woman’s Club sponsors and organizes a number of events in service to the community and schedules several activities for its members, now totaling 112.

On a large scale, the Colton Woman’s Club (CWC) has their monthly luncheons, participates in city events such as Christmas Wonderland, the public library and Veteran’s Day, and partners with local service organizations such Seed of Hope, Santa Claus Incorporated and CITYTALK w/DrG. On a smaller scale, the CWC offers scholarships, helps with decorations and organizes regular Bingo, Bunco and Craft day events.

In addition to the solid membership and the success of the activities the members of the CWC are very good friends and have a great time. “They all pitch in when they can,” says CWC member Tish Ochoa who continued, “They are very good at supporting the club with their membership and participation.” One member, Lorna Whitaker, has been a member for more than 30 years. When asked about her membership, she enthusiastically stated, “The women are friendly and very interesting. I love being a part of this organization.”

Looking ahead President Delma is winding down her term this year along with several other officers, so in addition to continuing with the busy calendar, the club is currently developing a new slate of officers that will be taking over in June. For more information about the Colton Woman’s Club, contact President Delma Ledesma @ 909-506-7496

The CITY TALK “Community Impact Award” was established in 2019 to recognize the great efforts that groups and individuals make “behind the scenes” to make our community, the City of Colton, a better place. The Colton Woman’s Club is an excellent choice for this recognition, and truly represents the very best, in terms of recognizing positive contributions to the community of Colton, which is the purpose of this award. Congratulations to President Delma Lesdesma, the Board, and all the members of the Colton Woman’s Club for their dedication, hard work, and contributions.
